Holiday in Ibiza October 2005![]() Sea view from the hotel window ![]() More sea view - Shame about the buildings ![]() Fountain in Es Cana We set our alarm clocks for 3.45am and the whole journey from home to airport to Ibiza and finally to the Hotel Miami went very smoothly with no delays. We arrived in time for lunch and an absolute bonus is that we are full board and the food is superb. The hotel is very good and we have a nice sea view of which the building in front obscures only a part. On Monday we explored the local town Es Cana. That didn't take long so we got back to the Hotel in time for the Welcome meeting. In the afternoon we took the bus to neighbouring Santa Eularia. This is a bigger town and has a very nice promenade by the seafront. I am writing this in the Placa Espanya overlooking the very pleasant Passeig S'Alamera. Heh heh heh. Now we're back at the hotel. I am sat on the balcony with a glass of sangria overlooking a calm and beautiful sea. Dinner time soon so I had better get this onto the website. In the evening we intend to go and watch the hotel's parrot show. ![]() Passeig S'Alamera in Santa Eularia ![]() View to Placa Espanya from Passeig S'Alamera in Santa Eularia ![]() Pancho, Mango & Pepe at the Miami Parrot Show Tuesday and we are off to Ibiza town on a posh looking catermaran. Before we get on board we see an octopuss lurking in the harbour. Then we take a seat on the outside deck and I make a mental note to visit the submarine deck to see the fishes (and octopusses). Oh dear! When the boat pulls into Santa Eularia we have to change to a less impressive boat without the submarine deck. This boat takes us the rest of the way. Ibiza town's main attraction was the old town up on a hill. A walk round the walls yeilded some excellent views. There was also a 'history trail' written on plaques in 4 languages. Very informative. The evening entertainment at the hotel was a duo of guitarists/singers playing some classic rock songs. Well above average entertainers, a shame I can't remember what they were called. On Wednesday we walked to the Es Cana Hippy Market. There didn't seem to be many hippies there and the choice of goods for sale was rather limited, but it was pleasant just to wander round and take in the atmosphere. We returned in the afternoon and then went for a walk to explore the other side of the peninsula. Pleasant but not exactly lively! ![]() View of Ibiza old town, as we arrive by boat ![]() The keep of Ibiza old town ![]() The Hippy Market at Es Cana |
